Participation of the Institute of Optics in the International Day of Light
The International Day of Light was promulgated by UNESCO after the celebration of the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies that took place in 2015, and since that year the Institute of Optics has been participating in the events.
This year our researchers have participated with talks and workshops such as the conference given by Susana Marcos entitled "Light, Optics and Vision" within the event "EnGOMate with light: Light for life", organized by the Student Chapters of OSA of the National Autonomous University of Mexico and the GOMa-UD of the FJC District University of Colombia.
Susana Marcos has also given a lecture entitled "Optics and Photonics to improve vision" in the scientific outreach days at Óptica Yes Light, organized by OSA USFQ Student Chapter in Quito.
María Viñas has given a conference entitled "Visual simulators based on adaptive optics and their clinical applications" also at Yes Light
And our companion Judith S. Birkenfeld has also participated in these talks with one entitled "Advanced optical imaging for early detection of eye diseases."
Our own IOSA Student Chapter CSIC participated in the “International Day of Light Terrassa” (Central IDL 2021 Event in Spain). IOSA members conducted workshops with students from the Mont Perdut Institute and the Cingle School.
Our colleague Javier Solís from the laser processing group gave an interesting seminar on "Production of compositional microstructures by irradiation with ultrashort laser pulses" at the Institute of Materials Science in Seville.
Researcher Sergio Barbero has participated in an initiative of the Faculty of Optics and Optometry's library in the Complutense University of Madrid consisted in a video-book reviews on the occasion of the DIL entitled "Escritos con luz". Link to the review
Finally, Carlos Ruiz de Galarreta Fanjul has participated in talks for alumni of the Complutense University of Madrid with one entitled "Optical and photonic components: from the lens to optical metasurfaces"
