The Optics Institute joins the international day of girls and women in science
These days scientists from the Institute of Optics have held informative events, virtual talks and created graphic material to make the youngest aware that they are necessary in the science of the future.

The IOSA Student Chapter of the Optics Institute has created a twitter thread in which every day they have presented a video of an association that throughout the year opposes gender inequality in the scientific-technological field, thus helping to give visibility to his very important work.
After each video a question is proposed so that visitors can answer and thus participate in a raffle.

Our colleague Aitor Villafranca along with Cristina Muñoz and Elvira Marín will participate on the 16th in the virtual talks that IES Vallecas I has organized on the occasion of the 11F for the students of 1st year of high school, in which various scientific careers in fields will be presented. like photonics, biology, or artificial intelligence.

Our colleague Mar Fenández Gutiérrez participated in two virtual talks on the occasion of the International Day of Girls and Women in Science together with Irene Gómez (Inst. De Química Física Rocasolano, CSIC), Marta Hernández (Inst. De Física Fundamental, CSIC) , Sagrario Martínez (Inst. Of Structure of Matter, CSIC), Aixa Morales (Inst. Cajal, CSIC) and Aurora Nogales (Inst. Of Structure of Matter, CSIC) in which they presented great women scientists in history and then spoke of the situation of women scientists today.
They then proposed a debate about the career choice boys and girls choose.
These talks were offered for the IES Palomeras-Vallecas and the IES Cervantes in Madrid

The group of women from the Laser Processing Group have prepared a poster and photos to make visible the presence of women in the scientific field

Our colleague Susana Marcos appears in a shop window in Zaragoza in an innovative activity that consists of designing posters with important scientists of all times to be seen in 64 stores that have participated in the proposal

And we cannot forget the L’Oréal-UNESCO "For Women In Science" award granted these days to Judith Birkenfeld along with 4 other Spanish scientists for their research project for the development of a tool for the early detection of keratoconus.
