Our colleague Joaquín Campos will be the next chair of the Technical Committee for Photometry and Radiometry of
Euramet , the European association of national metrology institutes.
The Technical Committee for Photometry and Radiometry is responsible for the harmonization of the standards and measurement methods of the different European centers in the field of optical radiation, including radiometry, photometry, colorimetry, spectrophotometry, fluorometry and fiber optics.
At the Joaquín Campos Optics Institute he works in the GIMRO research group and in the
Photometry, Radiometry and Fiber Optic Laboratory where his main activities are:
- Basic research in the development of primary standards and techniques for measuring fundamental and derived quantities.
- The provision of calibration services to the Spanish technological and industrial fabric.
The result of the scientific research carried out in the group is the realization of the fundamental unit of Photometry, La Candela, of its derived units, of measurement standards of the remaining quantities collected in the CIPM CMC and of numerous measurement techniques and systems developed in the Laboratory.
From here we congratulate Joaquín on his appointment.
