The Laser Processing Group (GPL) of the CSIC Institute of Optics offers a 2-year full-time contract, associated with a group research project. The contract would start in January 2022, in a flexible way.

The project corresponds to the call for “Strategic Projects Oriented towards the Ecological Transition and the Digital Transition” financed by the EU.

The GPL has recently demonstrated the possibility of producing large periodic surface nano-structures in metals, semiconductors and dielectrics [1-3], as well as in multilayers of nanoparticles embedded in dielectrics [4]. All this allows the functionalization of a wide range of materials in different configurations (mass or thin sheet) within a wide spectrum of applications.

The work will consist of performing laser treatments to modify surfaces of different materials at the micro- and nano-scale, with the aim of inducing their functionalization for various applications. The characterization activities of the processed material include, among others, the use of optical microscopy, electron microscopy and optical spectroscopy techniques.

Among the degree profiles that are considered, there is a bachelor’s degree/master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Engineering, Photonics or Laser Technologies. Knowledge or experience in the field of laser material processing will be valued.

Contract: Contract charged to a research project at the CSIC
Salary: €25,530.82 gross/year in 14 payments
Duration: 24 months
